Ups & Downs

It has been so long since I’ve written a blog post!  This past year has been one of the toughest of my 36 short years, yet I think I’ve grown the most.

Trusting God

Trusting God is a very difficult thing to do at times.  In fact, right now, if the truth is told: I want to give up!  However, my faith says: Relax, God has this!

Let’s look at some scriptures:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP):
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.  In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

I Peter 4:12-13 (AMP)
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you.  But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that when His glory [filled with His radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may rejoice with great joy.

Hold the Front Door!

Wait, wait, wait!  The scripture in I Peter says, “do not be surprised” if trials come…Sigh.  Don’t stop reading this blog post, I have good news!!!

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!

When Jesus came onto this world, He knew why He was here: To die.  I think His death happened in 2 ways actually.

  1. He died to His comforts and earthly dominion.
  2. He died to His flesh.

We all know that Jesus did not have to put up with the crap of this world…but He did it anyway.  For one reason only…….You!  He was spat upon, jeered at, mocked, ridiculed, and died a horrific death so we could spend eternity with Him!

That Same Spirit is Within Us

I believe that a tactic of the enemy is to get us to believe that we are worthless.  If he can get us to waller in our depression, he can destroy us piecemeal.  The good news is that John wrote about this.  Let’s take a look:

The Passion Translation says:
And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!”
Notice the word: conquered.  This is past-tense.  We are overcomers!  This life will throw things at you that will make you want to curl up in a ball and die, however, we do not have to let it!  God brought you to this blog to tell you this:

Do not worry, I got this!
