There is an amazing way that nature works. Each plant perfectly carrying out it’s purpose. That plant didn’t go to school, it didn’t learn about photosynthesis through a book. The parent tree that produced that seed didn’t sit down with it  each night teaching lessons. This plant was not taught how to function, how to grow, how to spread seeds, how to flower. None of that. Just looking at nature you can see God’s handiwork, even in something as small as a dandelion.

Now, that dandelion does something profoundly amazing. When the seed lands, and it germinates, the first thing that seed does is to send out a tap root. Now that tap root has one purpose.  Seek out the water. It grows vertically downward, and from a surface view, we are unable to see just how far down the root goes. And any botanist can tell you, these things take time.

On that same note, we as Christians have a spiritual tap root. And the way to build one, is in the following three step plan.

#1. Pray daily.

A plant needs some things to grow, and prayer is our spiritual rain.

1 Thessalonians 5:16 from the message: “Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.”

#2. Read your Bible daily.

The word of God is our anchor point. And our tap roots seek out the living word and hold fast to it.

Psalm 119:105: Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.

#3. Attend Church regularly.

In our Biblical studies, we are told very clearly the importance of gathering together in the name of Christ

Hebrews 10:25, Romans 12:5, 1 Corinthians 12:12-23 these are just some of the verse that mention the need of Christian fellowship on a regular basis.

Then there is the matter of attack. And when you experience an attack…Rejoice.

James 1:2-4: Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials.  Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.

During the attack it is of vital importance not to play the blame game.

James 1: 13-18 Don’t let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, “God is trying to trip me up.” God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one’s way. The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us. We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer.

So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.

(And in that mind set, be aware, that God will never give you more than you can handle.)

1 Corinthians 10:12 – 14 Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation]. No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].

Therefore, my beloved, run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul].
