Before you were born – before you were a twinkle in your father’s eye – before the flood – and yes, even before the foundations of the earth were being formed – God had you in mind! The Bible says that before all of this – God personally wrote a book about each one of us! This is what we are going to talk about.
Our main text for today’s blog is going to be Psalm 139:16 (AMP):
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were appointed for me, When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].
This verse is a life changer. If I were you, I would memorize this one! What does this mean you might be asking yourself.
I’m going to explain it in two sections:
Section 1) This verse does not mean…
God plans all the things in life that hurt you. We have free will. We have choices. We can choose to serve Him or to serve satan (yes, it’s one of the 2).
For example:
2 Peter 3:9 (AMP):
The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
We live in a sinful world. This means bad things happen to good, God-serving people. If anyone tells you that all your problems go away when you become a Christian, run from that person!
James 1:2-4 (MSG):
Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.
Our next verse is going to blow your mind!
Isaiah 43:1-4 (MSG):
But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.
Let’s read our main text one more time. Psalm 139:16 (MSG):
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.
Now that we understand what this passage does not mean, I’d like to tell you what it does mean. This is cool stuff!
Section 2) This verse does mean…
You are no accident. God planned your life before you were born! You are God’s Masterpiece! God has a plan for your life.
Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG):
I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
So, what about temptation? Did God plan that? Absolutely not! In fact, He has promised us a way out of it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (TPT):
We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously.
God has so much planned for your life! He wrote an entire book about YOU! I want to tell you this, Don’t give up.
Hebrews 12:1 (TPT):
As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.
You can do this thing that we call life!
Romans 8:31 (TPT):
So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us?
How do I become a Christian?
Acts 4:12 (AMP):
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation].”
Dear Jesus, I pray that you come into my heart. Please forgive me of all my sins. Wash me and make me whole again. I believe you died and rose again on the third day and I will serve you from this day forward. I confess with my mouth that you are my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
