Seasons Part IV

The last few weeks that I’ve spoken we have been talking and learning about Seasons of life that most of us will encounter at least once in our lives.  I would venture to say that we’ll encounter them multiple times throughout our life. If you have just recently found my blog or would like a refresher on my other posts on seasons you can click here, here, here, and here. I am also going to do a quick recap on those seasons.

There are spiritual seasons in life just like natural seasons.

Dry Season

T~his is often the toughest season that you will experience in your Christian walk. You feel that God has left and abandoned you. Keep in mind Deuteronomy 31:6.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (msg)

    “Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”

Waiting Season

You see Church, we live in what is called a microwavable society. Pop something in the microwave and a minute later it is finished. Our human nature doesn’t want to wait. Abraham waited almost 100 years for Isaac to be born. The children of Israel wandered around for 40 years.

Genesis 21:15 (nlt)

“Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born.”

Joshua 5:6 (nlt)

“The Israelites had traveled in the wilderness for forty years until all the men who were old enough to fight in battle when they left Egypt had died. For they had disobeyed the Lord, and the Lord vowed he would not let them enter the land he had sworn to give us- a land flowing with milk and honey.

Busy Season

This is not necessarily bad although it can be if you allow your priorities to change. I’ll explain it like this. The last 12 weeks roughly Bethesda House has had one event after another. With this in mind, we need to focus and prioritize our time. If we do not, we can get lost in just being busy. I do not believe God wants you or me to live this way.

Psalm 95:5

“The sea is His, for He made it {by His command}; And His hands formed the dry land.”

God owns everything anyway! Take a moment each morning and give your day to God. Something amazing will happen when you do this!

Today I am going to wrap up this series talking about the final season.

Happy Season

This is probably everyone’s favorite season- I know it’s mine!

I live in Iowa and the farming community is very predominant here and currently, this is one of the most rewarding times for farmers as they begin to reap what they have sown; and just like farmers, we as Christians enter into this season but it doesn’t mean  it wasn’t without hard work and without having to go through the other 3 important seasons in life. Without Winter, Spring, and Summer the farmer would not have his harvest and reap his reward. We will not have the happy or harvest season in life when we reap what we’ve sown; without walking through the winter, spring, and summer of life or the dry, waiting, and busy seasons I have taught on.

I want to make one thing abundantly clear though- yes, God wants you and me to be happy and live a blessed life, however, it is important to remember that life happens. People hurt us, sickness comes and life overwhelms us. It’s okay if we need outside help such as counseling and medication at times. I know this because I’ve needed it at times. You see Church, there is a stigma that we want to break here at Bethesda House. Some of us require medication. Guess What? That’s OK!!!!!

What should our proper response be in the Happy Season?

Sing Praises to God

James 5:13 (amp)

“Is anyone among you suffering? He must pray. Is anyone joyful? He is to sing praises {To God}

Learn that it’s OK to laugh again.

This can be especially difficult if you are just getting out of a dry season.

Psalm 126:2 (msg)

“It seemed like a dream, to good to be true, when God returned Zion’s exiles. We laughed, we sang, we couldn’t believe our good fortune. We were the talk of the nations-“God was wonderful to them!” God was wonderful to us; we are one happy people.

Once you recognize which season you’re in, you can shift your thoughts to your heavenly Father and live through the season glorifying Him. Ultimately, God is in control of all seasons. Whichever season you’re currently in, remember that God is making everything beautiful in its time and that He has you in this season and beyond. ~Courtnaye Richard

I hope you have been encouraged with this series on seasons.

If you are reading and you say Pastor Jeremy I don’t know this God who handles the seasons in my life and will be with me every day and you want to know Him you can right now.

Acts 4:12 (amp)

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved {for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation}

Just repeat this prayer-

Dear Jesus,

I ask that You forgive me of my sins. Wash me clean. I believe that you died on the cross, was buried, and rose 3 days later. I will serve You from this day forward. Take control of my life. I pray this in the matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
