Today I am taking a break from the seasons of life because I am right in the middle of the busy season. I am currently in Whatcheer Iowa; where one of the largest flea markets in the United States happens 3x a year. It’s always a great time of ministry and outreach. So this week I am going to talk about some of the names of God. It is incredible to me, as I have studied all this year the names of the God that He is all that we need. Everything we could ever need or want for He is.
In the latter part of 2018, I was laying in bed trying to unwind for the night and I felt a nudge in my Spirit regarding my 2019 articles for Christian Life Magazine (this is a magazine I am privileged to write for) As God was speaking to me (Yes, God still speaks to people), I felt like I should teach/write about the Names of God…A huge undertaking, I realize! It is my prayer that you can gain insight & become closer to Him as you read my articles…So, here goes!
Jehovah: The Lord
Exodus 6:2-3(NLT)
And God said to Moses, “I am Yahweh—‘the Lord.’ I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty’—but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them.
God is! He always was! And guess what? He is to come! He doesn’t change nor does He take time off! He is always by your side even when you do not feel like He is there or even cares about what you are going through!
I like the wording “I AM”. Why? Because you can insert whatever you need after it. I AM your provider, your salvation, your healing, your deliverer, your friend and the list can go on and on. That is powerful.
Jehovah-Adon Kal Ha’arets: Lord of Earth
Joshua 3:13(NLT)
The priests will carry the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. As soon as their feet touch the water, the flow of water will be cut off upstream, and the river will stand up like a wall.”
It is important to remember who God is – the Creator. I think we often take the earth (along with our possessions) for granted. It is God who we owe all the praise, honor and glory to!
Jehovah-Bara: Lord Creator
Isaiah 40:28(NLT)
28 Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
This ties into what I was saying above, however, I want to draw your attention to the last sentence in this verse: No one can measure the depths of his understanding. If you just think about this for a moment, it will most likely blow your mind (it does mine 😊 )!!! Now, this God desires to have a one-on-one fellowship with each person on this earth…Wow!!!!
Jehovah-Chatsahi: Lord my Strength
Psalm 27:1(NLT)
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation — so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
We serve a powerful God! He takes care of His children – in the same way, we take care of our children. We protect them – feed them – provide for them and the list goes on and on. Let’s remember to thank God for loving us – despite all of our mistakes!
Jehovah-Chereb – Lord the Sword
Deuteronomy 33:29 (MSG):
Lucky Israel! Who has it as good as you? A people saved by God! The Shield who defends you, the Sword who brings triumph. Your enemies will come crawling on their bellies and you’ll march on their backs.
In my opinion, the Message translation of this verse brings it alive! We all know that God is a loving God, yes, however, He also is a God of justice and vengeance. As you think about Jehovah-Chereb, praise Him because He will always protect you!
Jehovah-Eli – Lord my God
Psalm 18:2 (NLT):
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
We have all heard this saying: I’m between a rock and a hard place. With that being said – God will always provide! We have seen it time after time at Bethesda House as well as in my Wife and I’s personal life – a bill is due, and we do not have it, someone mails in a check or makes an online contribution. We can trust Him, folks!
Jehovah-Elyon – Lord Most High
Psalm 78:35 (AMP):
And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer.
When we are in worship – it is important to give praises to our God. You can use this Name for this – Jehovah-Elyon. What you are saying here is this – “God, You are higher than anything in my life!” I’m reminded of the Iowa State Fair’s slogan – Nothing Compares. God, You are Most High in my life – Absolutely Nothing Compares to You!
Jehovah-Gador Milchamah – Mighty in Battle
Psalm 24:8 (NLT):
Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle.
Life is a constant battle – in fact, I really feel like at least one person is reading this article who is about to give up. You have become battle weary. You are tired, depressed and feel like you are alone. You are not alone though – Jehovah-Gador Milchamah is right beside you! Call upon His Name – even right now. He has never, nor will He ever lose a battle!
After checking out a few of the articles on your website, I seriously like your way of writing a blog.
I book-marked it to my bookmark site list and will be checking back in the near future.
Take a look at my web site too and let me know your opinion.
