This week a very disconcerting event happened in Orlando, Florida. Many of you know, however, for those that do not know – someone went into a gay and lesbian bar and committed a mass shooting – one of the biggest in recent history. My heart is grieving on so many levels. Let me explain..
The Lost Died.
I do not agree with the gay lifestyle – in fact the Bible clearly forbids it. With this being said, I am deeply saddened that all those people died without asking Jesus to forgive them – which He would have. We all have sin and are in need of a Savior. In the Amplified Bible, Peter writes:
The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
(2 Peter 3:9)
God didn’t intend for anyone to go to hell – in fact, hell was created only for satan and the third of the angels that followed him.
The Church Needs to Get Over Itself!
I heard that the church that provided the memorial service received a lot of flack from other churches and so called “Little-Christs” (AKA: Christians). Is this being “Christ-like?” No…far from it actually. The Gospel, in its’ entirety, centers around one four letter word – that word is — love. “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He[even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. – John 3:16 (AMP).
Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others].
1 Peter 4:8 (AMP)
I hope this makes sense. It is our job, as the church, to love people. If we concentrate on that, God will do the rest!
